MOTD: Benton Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack

Hey lovelies! Sorry it’s been awhile… I was in Minnesota for a few weeks. I barely used any sheet masks while I was away (boooo) but I am back with a vengeance now; I’ve used one ever night since I’ve been back :3

I came back to three packages of KB goodies: My June subs! Yayy! I’ll cover those in a separate post, as I got some non-mask goodies too 😛

Today’s mask is from Benton, a Korean company. Their products are pretty popular; they’ve been in a lot of KB subs, and a lot of people have found many a Holy Grail (HG) in their lineup. They’ve also had their share of controversy. Personally, I have heard more good then bad about them (plus, nothing bad about their sheet masks…) and I found out about the drama llama after I already used the mask, so I didn’t let that color my opinion or my experience.

I bought this mask from Beauteque a couple of months ago for $3…. then got another one in my June Mask Maven sub from them. I also got two other masks from them that wound up in my June sub!

Lame.

Next time I know not to buy any random masks from them before I finish my subscription period (next month is the last of my 3 month sub).

Anyhow, the featured ingredients in today’s masks are pretty exotic: snail secretion, bee venom, and EFG. We’ve covered the AB-revered snail secretion in another mask review, but it’s been a trustworthy and (for me) an effective ingredient. My skin loves it, and I tend to seek it when selecting masks and other skin products. Bee venom is a new ingredient to me. It’s touted as “Nature’s Botox”, and thus helps smooth your skin. EFG (also known as rh-Oligopeptide-1 or epidermal growth factor) helps stimulate collagen production and heal wounds.

What I find to be the coolest thing about this mask is the fact that unlike most sheet masks, it does not use plain water as its main ingredient; instead, it uses Camellia Sinesis Leaf Water— fucking tea, meng! They also add in arbutin and adenosine for whitening and anti-aging properties.

Sounds like just the thing I need for my forehead breakout and general skin issues 😛

Enough nature shit! Off to the review!

Mask details: This mask had no discernible smell. It is a cotton mask that was decently soaked with essence, and I had barely enough left in the pack to do The Yoosh.

Mask Fit: This was the standard not-quite-fitting. I had to rip the eye and mouth holes for it to be comfortable, and it didn’t fit me from cheek to cheek 😦

First Impressions: This mask held up like a champ. It lasted through an episode of Orange is the New Black before starting to dry out! It also calmed down a breakout I had on my forehead. My skin felt moist and soft after taking off the mask. It took only a minute or two for the essence to soak in, then I finished my routine and went about my biz.

Final thought: My forehead breakout was calmed! The pimples have gotten smaller and don’t itch anymore! Yay! Would I repurchase? Yes, and I’d buy a 10 pack of it too. I want to try and build a mask regimen for when I have a breakout, and I think this would be a worthy contender in such a concept! 😀

I must say that I am so on the fence about trying any of their other products. I have the essence on my Amazon wishlist, and I was very interested in trying it before. I do see that they solved whatever issue they had with it, so it should be alright. Is it worth the risk? What are your thoughts about it?

Until next time, where I’ll try a new mask, share some hydrogel awesomeness, my sheet mask spreadsheet, and (of course) my June Subs (though not all in one post :P)!

xoxox.
