My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult – Mystery Babylon

My wonderful boyfriend put me on to this band. I love them! πŸ˜€

I have a thing for groups who use clips from old school shows and movies in their songs (like The Avalanches or Wax Tailor) and this band does it a lot… and very well. I’d never seen the video before trying to post this, but it really is visually striking, and helps put the song in perspective.

Anyone know of any other bands or groups who do this??

Nellie McKay – David

I heard this song when I was attempting to watch Weeds (I couldn’t get into it :/).

I fell in love with the song, and I actually bought (yes, I actually paid for music XD) the album this song is on, Get Away From Me. It’s really great! I love her eclectic sound (lil bit of jazz, pop …even some disco!) but what made me love this song is the old school Doris Day feel it has, in great contrast to the lyrics.

Check out the rest of this album if you like this song… you might be able to find it on the YouTube.Β I’ll share a couple more songs from this album soon πŸ˜€

2NE1 – I Am the Best

Ahhh OMG I am sooooo obsessed with this song. It has been my ringtone for like 4 months XD

I love this group; they are gorgeous, but they don’t need to flash Tits & Ass to be fabulous. You have to respect that in these modern times πŸ˜›

I’ve been listening to K-Pop (and Asian Pop in general) for a long time (since high school! I lurve you BoA!!!)… It started with my love of Japanese manga and anime and spiraled out from there. Now that I’ve gotten into AB this year, I have been listening to way more K-pop, so expect to see it a lot more now πŸ˜‰

Now I just need to repeat this to myself when I feel like I’m not good enough.

Katzenjammer – A Bar In Amsterdam

This is a catchy song by a versatile all girl band from Norway.

The lead singer has an interesting voice that’s hard to forget πŸ˜›

Never saw the video before I posted it; it’s a lot of fun! Another good song from them is Demon Kitty Rag, which is the song that got me into them. Most of the CD this is on, Le Pop, is pretty good. Most of the songs sound different; they don’t seem to have a cohesive sound, but it adds to the charm and repeat listening appeal.
