LUS Good Face Snail & EGF Mask Sheet

Hey dolls! Today’s mask is from LUS, a Korean brand.

I haven’t heard much about this brand in the AB-o-sphere (and can’t seem to find anything about them either), so I picked up this and another mask of theirs from TesterKorea and decided to give them a try… they certainly were cheap enough! I got this from TK for 1,000 won, or $0.84 USD. ‘

You must know by now I love a good bargain.

Wut wut!

Purederm Snail Cell Illuminating Multi Step Treatment

Hey dolls! Today’s mask is from Purederm, a Korean brand.

Hmm, this is the second mask from them I’m reviewing in as many weeks! I decided to do this mask because I didn’t see much buzz about it in the AB sphere… (aka none of my fave bloggers reviewed it yet XD). I also got this one from TesterKorea for 1,500 won, or $1.27 USD. Not bad, right? The other mask was kinda *yawn*, so I was hoping this one would be a bit more exciting, since it’s a special dual step mask and all 😀

How often do you see these kind of masks??

MOTD: Benton Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack

Hey lovelies! Sorry it’s been awhile… I was in Minnesota for a few weeks. I barely used any sheet masks while I was away (boooo) but I am back with a vengeance now; I’ve used one ever night since I’ve been back :3

I came back to three packages of KB goodies: My June subs! Yayy! I’ll cover those in a separate post, as I got some non-mask goodies too 😛

Today’s mask is from Benton, a Korean company. Their products are pretty popular; they’ve been in a lot of KB subs, and a lot of people have found many a Holy Grail (HG) in their lineup. They’ve also had their share of controversy. Personally, I have heard more good then bad about them (plus, nothing bad about their sheet masks…) and I found out about the drama llama after I already used the mask, so I didn’t let that color my opinion or my experience.

I bought this mask from Beauteque a couple of months ago for $3…. then got another one in my June Mask Maven sub from them. I also got two other masks from them that wound up in my June sub!

Lame.

Next time I know not to buy any random masks from them before I finish my subscription period (next month is the last of my 3 month sub).

Anyhow, the featured ingredients in today’s masks are pretty exotic: snail secretion, bee venom, and EFG. We’ve covered the AB-revered snail secretion in another mask review, but it’s been a trustworthy and (for me) an effective ingredient. My skin loves it, and I tend to seek it when selecting masks and other skin products. Bee venom is a new ingredient to me. It’s touted as “Nature’s Botox”, and thus helps smooth your skin. EFG (also known as rh-Oligopeptide-1 or epidermal growth factor) helps stimulate collagen production and heal wounds.

What I find to be the coolest thing about this mask is the fact that unlike most sheet masks, it does not use plain water as its main ingredient; instead, it uses Camellia Sinesis Leaf Water— fucking tea, meng! They also add in arbutin and adenosine for whitening and anti-aging properties.

Sounds like just the thing I need for my forehead breakout and general skin issues 😛

Enough nature shit! Off to the review!

Mask details: This mask had no discernible smell. It is a cotton mask that was decently soaked with essence, and I had barely enough left in the pack to do The Yoosh.

Mask Fit: This was the standard not-quite-fitting. I had to rip the eye and mouth holes for it to be comfortable, and it didn’t fit me from cheek to cheek 😦

First Impressions: This mask held up like a champ. It lasted through an episode of Orange is the New Black before starting to dry out! It also calmed down a breakout I had on my forehead. My skin felt moist and soft after taking off the mask. It took only a minute or two for the essence to soak in, then I finished my routine and went about my biz.

Final thought: My forehead breakout was calmed! The pimples have gotten smaller and don’t itch anymore! Yay! Would I repurchase? Yes, and I’d buy a 10 pack of it too. I want to try and build a mask regimen for when I have a breakout, and I think this would be a worthy contender in such a concept! 😀

I must say that I am so on the fence about trying any of their other products. I have the essence on my Amazon wishlist, and I was very interested in trying it before. I do see that they solved whatever issue they had with it, so it should be alright. Is it worth the risk? What are your thoughts about it?

Until next time, where I’ll try a new mask, share some hydrogel awesomeness, my sheet mask spreadsheet, and (of course) my June Subs (though not all in one post :P)!

xoxox.

MOTD: Dermal Snail Collagen Essence Mask

Hello SMAs (formerly known as sheet mask addicts…shut up, I’m lazy XD):

Today we get back to our regularly scheduled MOTD posts yayyy! On a side note, I think I might just start saving haul posts for the weekends, or should I dedicate a day for hauls (there will be more in the coming weeks XD)? Any opinions on the matter would be much appreciated 😀

Today’s mask is from Korean company Dermal, who (I didn’t know this before) also makes the Purederm line of products too! I like their collagen eye patches :3  I bought this mask in a 16 piece multi pack on Amazon for $12 (with free shipping for Prime or for orders over $35), which comes out to $0.75 a piece! You know I love a good bargain. I’ve actually had these for awhile; I tried one from the pack (charcoal) a couple of weeks before I started the blog, and I remember it being decent. Not spectacular mind you, but I figured it was worth the per-piece price.

I’m in the last stages of my Epic Zit War, so I decided to select a mask with more regenerative/repairing elements because I figured that even the tiniest bit of whatever-says-will-help would be sufficient 😛

But I’m getting ahead of myself (again, as usual…)

The featured ingredient in this mask is snail mucus extract, or you may see it as Snail Secretion Extract (same shit, meng). Now, if you’re new to Asian beauty, you might be balking and saying what the fuck Deena??

Just listen to this: snail slime is a wonder substance. Have acne problems, blemishes that won’t go away, fine wrinkles annoying the shit out of you?? The snail slime has got your back. Legions of die hard Korean beauty fanatics cannot be wrong (dammit!), But you know snail slime must be a huge deal if even the American media is doing stories on it. Huh.

I personally wasn’t grossed out by its use in skin care when I heard about it; as a matter of fact it took me back to my childhood days of playing in the yard, catching snails and keeping them in old ice cream buckets where I would feed them lettuce. They were so cute! Even the slime trails were pretty; they’d leave shiny diamond trails all over the concrete, and it was lovely  ^__^

Yadda, yadda, yadda; you’re prolly wondering now, did it help?? Sorry I’m rambling today… on to the review!

Spoiler: I loved this mask 😀
The back has usage and other pertinents in Hangul, Japanese, and English 😀
Closeup of English portion.

Mask details: The mask was surprisingly thick and dripping with essence. There was just enough left inside for me to do The Yoosh (rub it on my neck and boobs :P). It had a nice clean smell. I’m not sure what I expected it to smell like, but not as nice as it was, I tell you.

Mask fit: The mask fit me pretty well, although the eye and mouth holes were a little too small (as is usually the case for me), but not so small that I had to cut it or anything. Since it covered my face from cheek-to-cheek, I was very happy. It even held up well when I did a mini photo shoot:
I had a lot of fun with this 😛
First impression: After putting the green tea mask from my last MOTD post in the fridge, this has become my new norm. I stuck it in (snerk) the fridge at least an hour, if not more, before. It felt ZOMG amayyyzing. As is the case with these masks, the cold soon dissipates, but it still felt good on my face at any rate. I, umm, fell asleep with it on (I took a 4 hour nap…I haven’t been sleeping well the past few days…) and it was dry (but still stuck to my face XD) when I woke up, but my face wasn’t–it was nicely moisturized, and I didn’t even use my awesome TonyMoly Snail Moisture Gel to seal it in like I usually do. Not only that, but two huge zits have been significantly reduced to almost gone O_O

Final thoughts: Can I say wow?? My face feels like buttah, and the only thing I bothered to put on when I got up from my nap was my preshus Mizon Snail Repair Eye cream! I love this!! I didn’t expect such wow from a cheapie mask, but it just comes to show you, right? I’m no mask snob by any means (it it seems reputable I will buy it, the cheaper the better!), but sometimes you get what you pay for. I’m finding out this is not always the case for Korean skin care, and I love that. I told my mom I paid less than $15 for my eye cream (which has really reduced my fine lines, TYVM) and she couldn’t believe it. She pays upward of $45 for hers. She won’t try the snail stuff though.
Chicken.
All in all, I fucking LOVED this mask! I must inform you that I do use other products that include snail slime in my beauty regimen (as mentioned above), so it could very well be the layered amounts of snail working together or some shit… but I belieeeeve in the power of the mighty snail now! I must hunt down a multi pack of this variety to have on hand. You can’t beat a decent cheap face mask, especially one that shows RESULTS, dammit.
As a final note, I used a couple of masks the past two days that I did not review (yet). Don’t worry: I used masks that I had multiples of just so I can still blog about them at a later date. You have no idea the kind of restraint I exercised to do so…you’re welcome 😉
Until tomorrow’s adventure,

Mask Mail #1 AKA Super Awesome Sheet Mask Haul

Hey, I’m still alive 😛

I went away for about a week, and I was so busy I didn’t get a chance to blog! Gah! I still wanna stick with this though…so here I am 🙂

When I discovered sheet masks a few weeks ago, I went batshit crazy nuts ordering masks and other cool Korean skincare goodies, so I ordered a bunch of stuff and packages have been pouring in! You know it’s bad when the mail person knows who you are, even though you’ve only been living at your current address for less than 6 months XD

This is a super awesome haul post: I got four (!!) hauls to share with you…. would have been nicer as individual posts but *shrug* I got two in today, one was waiting for me when I got back home, and the last was acquired whilst away.

Anyway, on to the goodies!

Haul #1 TonyMoly and The Face Shop

I took this while waiting for guests to arrive at my friend’s surprise party :3

I actually got these in person! It was my best friend’s birthday, so I took her to Koreatown in NYC and we had a fabulous lunch, then of course we had to hit up two of the most well known Korean skincare vendors :3 From  TM I got three masks, snail moisture gel (ZOMG amayyyyyzing!!!), a lip mask, and a gold black sugar scrub (looove this!!!! It has flakes of real gold in it!!). I got 8 masks from The Face Shop. I have to say, both shops are tiny as FUCK. My fat ass could barely turn around in TM XD So far, I’ve used one of the TM masks (Mung bean; pretty interesting, Made my face tingle… I kept it on anyway [lol] and [luckily] it didn’t cause any irritation or breakout. It left my skin feeling tighter and smoother the next day!), one of TFS’s masks (pearl; it was meh. It was like a heavy paper that didn’t seem to have a lot of essence soaked in …dried pretty fast too) and I gave one to my bestie’s ma 🙂

Haul #2: Malie Masks

You can buy them here, though it seems like this seller raised their prices. Bummer. You can find a better deal from another seller though 😛

I got these from eBay Seller konanshop. It was $20.40 (w/ free shipping :P) for 38 masks + 4 nose strips!!!

These masks are such a great fucking deal. It works out to be ~$0.54 a piece, even less if we factor in the nose strips (but they were a free gift! XD) Not only that, the seller shipped the day after I paid and I got it two days before the ETA. Awesomeness. I’ve used one of these so far: Pomegranate. It smelled like real pomegranates, and it made my face feel pretty great 😀

Haul #3: Missha and TonyMoly

Isn’t that sheep mask pkg the cutest ever??? D’aww.

I got these from eBay seller iamlove-shop. The Missha Gourmet Honey Butter masks (5) were $6.98 (so a “splurge” for me lol) and the TonyMoly Year of the Sheep mask was (wait for it…) $3.98 with “free shipping” (with prices like these, the shipping is definitely built in. I found these masks cheaper on TesterKorea [and even the TM shop in NYC had the sheep mask for $3.60! Fuck me.] oh well). On the up side, they sent me a nice amount of samples! 😀

I just got these in today, so I haven’t had a chance to use them. Stay tuned for these mask reviews coming soon!

Haul #4 Missha and Mizon

I fucking love the pkging of the Mizon masks… just cracks me up… Kylie Jenner, anyone? XD

I got these from eBay seller ideaseller_kr. The Missha Aloe masks were $4.14 for a set of three and the Mizon No.1 Moist King’s Berry Masks were $9.99 for a set of 7. Not too shabby price wise (I think….). I also just got these in today, so you’ll see the reviews for these eventually. I got other things with the masks:

This is the rest of the stuff I bought from this seller… just showing off, really. Too lazy to list all the things XD
These are all the samples I got from this order. I hit the sample jackpot!!!! 😀

So there goes my super awesome haul post…. It took me awhile to reorganize my medicine cabinet, and I think my mask collection is about to outgrow its current home (aka a Ukala boot box XD)

I think I will try the Missha Honey Butter mask tonight. I can’t wait! 😀

Til then xoxox
